August 19, noon to 6pm.
Parfleche: A container – for storing medicines, dried foods, herbs, sacred items, bobbles, and more – made of rawhide.
Spend a day hand-stitching a parfleche, a container and lid, joining together pieces of rawhide. We’ll work in a sacred manner, communing with the four-legged and one another. Offer your prayers of gratitude and thanksgiving, intentions with every stitch.
Simple. Elegant. Meaningful. Constant. Our work will center around the Deer Nation who made the very generous agreement to always be of service to us two-legged. They have never failed us. In this way of crafting we can honor the deer in a reciprocal way.
